Final Senior Graphic Design Capstone Project
Course: Senior Design Project at George Mason University, Fall 2024
My final project consisted of my photography, typography layouts, compositions, and then the combination of all in a series of screen-prints. A total of 15 prints were made; 5 of each.
Elements of Being explores the fundamental aspects of human existence through photography, design, and screen-printing. Each piece represents a different element of being: Terra (the earth), Corpus (the body), and Animus (the spirit). The project aims to highlight the intricate relationship between the physical, the material, and the immaterial, while using textures and layers to evoke the complexity and interconnectedness of these elements.
Terra connects us to the earth, grounding us in the natural world through organic shapes and earthy tones. Corpus reflects the body as a vessel, both a physical entity and a symbol of vulnerability and strength, represented through form and shape. Animus speaks to the inner spirit or consciousness, rendered through ethereal, abstract elements that show movement and energy. It also contains elements that represent the complexities of mental health.
Together, these pieces invite the viewer to reflect on the harmony between our external environment, our physical selves, and the intangible forces that shape our inner worlds.
